New workshop! June’s monthly live draw on Zoom makes drawing and painting boats easy. Watch and follow along as leader Anne Kupillas shows you how to capture boats in your sketches and watercolor paintings. Anne will lead the group in the fundamental shapes and details essential to expressing boats in a landscape. She will also tell you what to leave out! Open to all levels, this is a Pay-What-You-Wish workshop, and tip jar will be available on Zoom and in the follow up email. Bring a sketching pad and pencil, pen, or marker with you to the Zoom, along with your watercolor paints and paper if you wish to paint along as well. No rsvp necessary - just join the Zoom on Sunday, June 2nd at 10am.

Watch and follow along as leader Anne Kupillas tackles the tricky subject of landscape composition. Anne will lead the group in exercises designed to improve your design especially with regards to landscapes, both in the studio and for plein air. Watch and follow along as leader Anne Kupillas tackles the concepts of shape and line, and how to use these to improve your drawing skills, especially with regards to plein air landscapes. If you’ve ever been challenged by sketching and are curious to learn more about how to simplify your drawings, then join and work at your own pace as you practice different ways to use simple shapes and lines to improve your drawings. Bring a sketching pad and pencil or pen.
New in-person workshop!
Join me for a morning of painting and sketching at the Huntington Central Park in Huntington Beach, CA. The group will park in the Library lot and then walk down to gather at the Bandstand. Anne will show the group how she scopes out an interesting view to paint, sets up her equipment, and goes from a sketch to a finished painting. This workshop is free and is perfect for beginners, however artists of all levels are welcome to attend! RSVP to reserve. your spot, spaces are limited to 12 artists.
Join me in the Historic Cottages District of Crystal Cove State Park in Laguna, to paint the cottages and beach. There's so much charm coupled with broad oceanscape, there's something for everyone!
This event will meet on the beach. Park in the Los Trancos parking lot and either take the shuttle ($2) down to the beach OR walk under PCH using the Pedestrian Tunnel.
This event is $15 and includes a demo and light instruction. Enjoy a full morning at the beach! Join the long tradition of artists painting at Crystal Cove. Bathrooms, refreshments available. Message Anne to grab a spot.

Claire’s at the Museum restaurant is located on the beautifully landscaped campus of the Long Beach Museum of Art. The oceanfront dining area surrounds Claire Falkenstein’s stunning water sculpture, Structure and Flow. The patio also features an unobstructed view of the Queen Mary and Catalina Island.

Nelson’s at Terranea Resort
This workshop is all about sketching the great outdoors, specifically a natural oceanscape. Led by watercolor artist Anne Kupillas and designer and urban sketcher Charles Leon, this workshop will be held outside overlooking the Pacific Ocean.
