Eastern Sierras, CA . October 13-15, 2023
Spend two days and two nights in the beautiful Inyo Valley sketching and painting the mountains of the Eastern Sierra Nevada Mountains. Views to Mount Williamson and Whitney, excursions to Onion Valley and Manzanar, and Lone Pine’s historic and eminently drawable Movie Rocks. Option to add on a day sketching in Mammoth Lakes!

I will be sharing my years of plein air experiences with you. Excursions to locations each day will be informative but relaxed. In our small group we will demonstrate on site, with both watercolor plein air painting and pencil sketching techniques. You will learn the basics of landscape and architectural sketching, how to choose and simplify what you see and create strong compositions, while navigating the particular challenges and pleasures of watercolor painting outdoors. In addition to the daily group demos, we will have plenty of time to paint and draw these subjects on our own, in plein air, with immediate feedback from your instructor.
